EXECUTIVE PROFILES

 

William W. Wolfe, CHA
Principal

William W. WolfeBill is a graduate of The Ohio State University with a Bachelors Degree in Economics and Accounting.  He has since completed advanced level courses in Finance and Economics and has conducted classes and seminars in real estate deal structuring.

Bill provides the firm a broad background in property management including food service, hospitality operations, and real estate finance. He served as Chief Financial Officer for one of the nation's largest property management companies, during which he was responsible for the integrity of all financial records for more than 55,000 apartment units located in nineteen states.

Bill is extremely knowledgeable in accounting and reporting systems for property management activities and is a recognized expert in the management of large-scale business operations spread over a variety of remote locations.

He has participated in site selection, construction, financing, staffing, and management for over 100 restaurants of varying types. Additionally, Bill was a partner in a Wendy's franchise company that built and operated thirty-two restaurants in Ohio and West Virginia.

 

Kenneth J. Castrop
Principal

Kenneth J. CastropA founder of CWB Property Management, Inc. and Castrop-Wolfe Development Co., Ken enjoyed a long, successful career in banking and real estate before segueing to the hotel business.

Ken was born in Columbus, OH and graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelors Degree in Engineering.  He then went on to receive his Masters in Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.  After college Ken followed a call to serve in the United States Peace Corp as an engineering instructor at a technical college in Southern Africa.

Following his Peace Corps service he joined Chase Manhattan Bank in New York, London, and Lagos as part of a startup team for new banking entities.  In Kano, Nigeria, he headed a team for a start-up bank.  His duties focused on project financing, inter-bank money market transactions to fund lending activities, foreign exchange, and trade financing.  In each case he greatly exceeded head office expectations for new operations, culminating in a promotion to the position of General Manager and Chief Lending Officer.

When Ken returned home to the United States he founded his own business in Dublin, OH establishing a trading company focused on exporting goods from the USA, Europe, and South America to Nigeria.  He was also a partner and operator of a travel agency in Columbus and served as partner and operator of a charter airline firm operating two Boeing 707’s out of Port Columbus.

In 1984, Ken was recruited to Cardinal Industries where he served with distinction as President of the Cardinal Advisory Group.  His chief responsibility was the supervision of asset management for Cardinal’s portfolio of owned real estate properties, valued at over $2.5 billion, including 65,000 apartments, 150 hotels, and 25 retirement centers.  Ken maintained a staff of portfolio managers and analysts with offices in Columbus, Baltimore, Atlanta, and Orlando, and was responsible for maintaining managing partner/member control of more than 800 limited partnerships and LLC’s including budgeting, analysis, cash distribution, investor communications, accounting, and property management oversight.

In 1990, he partnered with his friend and colleague, Bill Wolfe, to found CWB Property Management and Castrop-Wolfe Development Co.  At CWB, Ken is responsible for real estate asset management and finance for the Companies’ owned and managed portfolio of hotels and apartments.  Ken’s expertise in the areas of strategic planning, financing, operations, acquisitions, and dispositions is critical to the success of the firm.

 

Philip D. Kinnison, CHA
Vice President of Operations

Philip D. KinnisonPhilip Kinnison is a hotelier’s hotelier. With more than 30 years of tactical experience in virtually every area of hotel operations, Philip brings a dynamic level of expertise to every project.

Philip is a graduate of Manchester College with a Bachelors Degree in Business.  Before joining CWB in July 1997, he served in continually escalating positions of Front Office Manager, Sales and Catering Manager, Food and Beverage Director, Resident Manager, General Manager, Vice President of Operations, and Executive Vice President for such luminary firms as Hospitality Management Corporation, the Springer Group, Diamond Hospitality, and Guild Hotels.  Along the way he has earned the award of General Manager of the Year on six separate occasions.

Philip also opened two Playboy Clubs and four other independent restaurants.  He has directed the operations of many franchise flags including Marriott, Hilton, Sheraton, Radisson, Wyndham, Crowne Plaza, Comfort, Hampton, Best Western, Holiday Express, and many others with operating models that include suburban business hotels, airport hotels, boutique hotels, all-suite hotels, resort hotels, and limited service hotels.

Prior to joining CWB, Phillip specialized in opening new hotels, as well as the takeover, turnaround and re-positioning of hotels, and has supervised more that $50 million in hotel renovations.  Since joining CWB, he has opened and closed hotels and closely monitored all of our hotel operations.  His hands-on style of management has earned him a reputation as a “can do” professional.

Philip currently supervises the operations of all 14 CWB hotels, ensuring their proper marketing and profitability.

 

Christopher D. Conrath – CPA
Vice President Finance, Controller

Christopher D. ConrathChris joined CWB Property Management in January 1999 as Vice President of Finance and Controller.  He is a graduate of Ohio University, with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, having dual majors in Accounting and Economics.  He brings 25 years of finance and accounting experience in hospitality and real estate.

Prior to joining CWB, he served as Controller and Director of Finance for US Realty Consultants Inc., and prior to this service, Chris enjoyed a similar association with L&B Institutional Property Mgt LLC, and the Daimler Group. 

He has worked in real estate development, construction, property management and valuation of commercial income producing properties and business concerns.
Chris supervises all accounting and financial reporting functions for CWB including cash management, accounts payable and receivable, property and income taxes, business insurance, financing, and financial statement development and presentation.

Chris is a Certified Public Accountant, recognized by the state of Ohio, and a life Member of Delta Sigma Pi Business Fraternity.  He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the American Institute of Business Appraisers.

Chris is a key member of the CWB management team, bringing an astute level of expertise in finance and financial management. His contribution to our individual properties’ profitability is vital.

 

Connie Burkett
Corporate Director of Revenue and Operations

Connie BurkettConnie is from Pensacola, FL and attended Troy State University where she received a degree in Business/Accounting.

Before joining CWB in 2007, she spent thirteen years with Marriott International, and one of Marriott’s most respected franchising companies, Winegardner and Hammons.  She served in the capacity of General Manager at literally all Marriott brands and was an integral team member for Marriott on hotel opening assignments.

Connie has vast experience in the areas of asset management, strategic planning, cost controls, recruiting and training, and has an outstanding record for success in sales and marketing, and guest satisfaction.

She is a past winner of Marriott’s Bill Teifel Service Award, the Mustang Award, and was honored with the General Manager of the Southeast Region Award.  Connie is currently a member of AH&MA and IHSMA.
